My Wife Taking Shower

Deadman: A comics still seeking its audience.

Deadman
by Neal Adams 1967 - 1970 (OC)

A tribute to late this unknown comic Worship in France yet, once published in 1978 (one volume a single) and more since.
Injustice!
The Deadman is starting a young biker ( Boston Brand), who works in a circus, and that happens one day a terrible accident during a performance. But this incident proves to be a crime ..
Following his departure to the afterlife, an Indian god (Rama Kushner) allows our heroes to stay in the world of the living to find his killer ... but as a ghost (Deadman) which is not very happy. However he will have the option to be able to "infiltrate" any body he wants. And this will allow it to conduct its investigation, to feel again, even save lives .. at least one time.

... This series with the moult telling the twists of our endless quest "dead man" to the truth was established in 1967 by Arnold Drake for comics' anthology "DC Strange Adventures # 205 and Carmine Infantino drawing, then quickly picked up by Jack Miller (# 207) and Neal Adams drawing on the second numéro.Neal Adams counting 17 numbers and imposing his own comics in six scenarios ( Strange Adventures 212, 213, 215, Aquam No # 50, 51 52.)
is a must mix of comics at once romantic, fantasy and thriller, unfortunately currently unavailable in France *. Indeed the old edition of Cheese pages containing "start to spin" (bad glue) is rare and therefore listed.
Here Neal Adams is aware of his drawing, and storylines are good. They were created at a time when Neal Adams worked for other licenses (DC) where death was also a predominant role. ( Green Lantern, Batman, Superman ... ) The article attached below note Marc Duveau (in Vampirella # 2 NS, June 1978) explains.

> An American edition color was proposed in December 2001. (Cf. left and top right) is presented in a slipcase (boards) and includes the complete original episodes, with blankets and interview / callback screenplay. ("The Deadman Collection "): to be missed. The gifted

Kelley Jones drew two very good episodes in the U.S. comics series in 1989 (see small chronic Onabok ). We will come back very soon on 1caseenmoins to detail a series of memorable spaces.
In addition, a new series incorporating the concept began in 2007 in the USA at DC (" Deadman Walking ") with Bruce Jones the script and John Watkiss drawing. The hero's name was changed (Brandon Cayce! Phew phew) and died in a plane crash (...) A comeback of the license? An adaptation film is in any case in the making, produced by Guillermo del Toro, since 2006.

(*) But the few episodes which meet Deadman and Batman are available in French in "Batman anthology 1967-1969: Volume 1, Neal Adams (Semic 2005)
