Survivors of Silence
Volume 1 "The scout
Jean-Michel Ponzio
Carabas, 2010

John Michel Ponzio is an author "new" in the comic since it started late this medium (2004/2005). For cons he loves science - fiction and fact, we could also say a little its level through other baggage he has in his resume. (Expression visual, digital, graphics, designs and futuristic design, animation ...)

Working with one of the best screenwriter of the moment: Marazano on at least two series renowned for their quality and Genetiks Complex chimpanzee, it only makes this series planned in two volumes, just as it has already done for the same publisher.

Survivors of Silence and its two protagonists man and woman may remind Stel and Atan of "Worlds of Aedena " (Moebius) are two " Designers ", beautiful and slender, slightly fluorescent combination which are found projected a rocky desert into a world where pure SF bubbles regenerative placed into a different world with a specific mission.

"Driver" by another being telepathic but more than "the scout", they will leave by train to the desert, toward an unknown goal, losing in passing some power and certainty (as Stel and Atan), followed closely by the "tracker", another humanoid creature apparently dangerous ...

If we do not know when it happens and try these two humans of the future, however, was the sensation of bathing in a more or less familiar, the worlds already seen in "Castaway the time " Gillon example (coverage that is very telling), or the movie "The Island " (Michael Bay, 2004) for the aspect mixture genres (reality / dream, and desert environments of cocoons ...), as well as the systematic trains take reminiscent of "Fahrenheit 451 " (Bradbury 1953/Truffaut 1966.)

Above: or "Bouncer" or the "desert B", but a quest nonetheless ... (© Ponzio / Carabas)

Anyway, the drawing of Ponzio is very charismatic and scenery and savory situations.

... Charming and suspense in one album, a beautiful poetic reflection on the quest for identity ... it sounds like a very good start that makes you want to know more.
